Benvenuti and Welcome!

Hi everyone, and welcome to my bi-lingual English Italian blog! Here you will find every post written firstly in English and then (badly!) in Italian. I welcome all your suggestions, comments, emails and (above all) your corrections!

Ciao a tutti, e benvenuti al mio blog inglese italiano! Qui troverete ogni post scritto in inglese, poi in italiano (malissimo!).  Accolgo tutti i vostri suggerimenti, commenti, email e (soprattutto) le vostre correzioni!

Se questo è un uomo

I’m trying to read more books written in Italian, and the one that I’m reading at the moment is Primo Levi’s ‘If this is a man’. Luckily for me the language is simple and uncomplicated so I’m able to read it for the most part without a dictionary (and it helps that I also read the book many years ago in an English translation). However, for any English students of Italian who don’t feel quite up to the task of reading the whole text in its original Italian, I’d encourage you to go to your local library and to find a copy of Lucie Benchouiha’s: Primo Levi, Rewriting the Holocaust.

This book is crammed with extracts from Levi’s writings in the original Italian, but each extract is immediately translated into English, so that the reader can check his understanding of what he’s just read.

You can see extracts from the book on the Amazon website HERE.

Books like this are a great bridge for language students, helping them to read more of their target language but in an unchallenging and supportive context.

ahah, you're very welcome. Anyway let me point out that most of your errors aren't that bad at all! I must say they're minor errors and they mostly look like they'd go away with some reading practice!
So don't despair at all! Keep reading! Oh speaking of reading practice may I suggest you a book? I mean we all read "se questo e' un uomo" and it's a good book but lemme say it's not a good reading(quite sad indeed). One should learn languages for pleasure or will never get to the end of it. So pleasuring, entertaining great readings are suggested!
Here's a perfect start:
"Il fu mattia pascal" by luigi Pirandello.

here in PDF:

and here in HTML:
http://www.liberliber.it/biblioteca/p/pirandello/il_fu_mattia_pascal/html/

It's perfect because it has modern language, it's definitely entartaining(quite hilarious indeed, but mind you not in a stupid way, Pirandello had been one of the gratest writers of our modern italian literature), it's a classic of our literature!

ps: I also have the audiobook of this one if you like listening to audiobooks.
